Accessing PitchBook

As an NDVC member, you gain access to PitchBook, the leading provider of financial data, research, and insights. PitchBook is one of the largest databases of startup information, showing details of a company's fundraising history, employee headcount, and more. This information is helpful when evaluating a startup, comparing companies, sourcing deals, and finding other valuable insights.

Check if You’re Pre-Approved

Access to PitchBook through the University is provided via Okta. For most Mendoza students, access is pre-approved. To check if you are pre-approved, visit your ND Okta portal, which is the same place you will access PitchBook when it’s time to log in. If the PitchBook app is not visible, try searching “PitchBook” in the search bar. Another way to check access is to attempt to log in directly. You can do this by going to the PitchBook website and clicking the login button in the top right corner. Since access is granted through Okta, you do not have a PitchBook password. Instead, click the “Log in with SSO” button toward the bottom of the login screen. You will then be prompted to enter an email (enter your nd.edu email), after which you’ll be redirected to an Okta page where you can log in with your ND credentials. Afterward, you will be redirected back to PitchBook, now logged in.

Request PitchBook Access

If you are not pre-approved for PitchBook, you will need to manually request access through Hesburgh Library’s “Ask Us Desk.” While you can go in person to the desk to request access, emailing the help desk (asklib@nd.edu) is typically more convenient. In your email (or when speaking to a librarian), please mention that you need PitchBook access for NDVC (otherwise, they will not grant you access). Your email can be short, but make sure to mention NDVC, your name, and your ND NetID.

Sending the email automatically creates a Library help desk support ticket. A librarian will respond to your email and grant access (possibly after asking some follow-up questions). The process typically takes 1-3 business days.

Logging into PitchBook
(Once Approved)

Once access to PitchBook is granted through Hesburgh Library, or if you were already pre-approved (like most Mendoza students), there are two ways to log in to PitchBook (both using Okta).

First Method: Go to your ND Okta portal portal, where you should see PitchBook as one of your apps. If it’s not visible, try searching “PitchBook” in the search bar. Clicking the PitchBook app will launch PitchBook and automatically log you in.

Second Method: Log in to PitchBook directly. You can do this by going to the PitchBook website and clicking the login button in the top right corner. Since access is granted through Okta, you do not have a PitchBook password (even after your access is granted), so you must click the “Log in with SSO” button toward the bottom of the login screen. You will then be prompted to enter an email (enter your nd.edu email), after which you’ll be redirected to an Okta page where you can log in with your ND credentials. Afterward, you will be redirected back to PitchBook, now logged in.

If neither of those login methods work, please contact Hesburgh Library’s “Ask Us Desk” (as described above). NDVC cannot assist with access issues, since access is solely managed by Hesburgh Library.
